Eastham Windmill

Product Description

The Eastham Windmill, located in Eastham, Massachusetts, is Cape Cod’s oldest windmill. In 1680, Eastham resident Thomas Paine built it in Plymouth. It was first relocated to nearby Truro in 1770, and then to Eastham in 1793. The windmill was relocated to its current location in 1808, near the Eastham Town Hall and the Eastham Public Library. Eastham Windmill was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999 as part of the Eastham Center Historic District.

Eastham Windmill Weekend, a local festival that takes place the first weekend after Labor Day, has been held in Eastham every year since 1977.

While repairs will be required in the future, a significant contribution was made in 1996 by a local Boy Scout whose Eagle Project included both raising funds and providing labor to replace several sections of the fencing surrounding this historic landmark. Eastham-based businesses contributed all of the funding. The Eastham Windmill has long served as a symbol for the local Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts.

The windmill is extremely easy to access thanks to it’s location right off the highway, great parking, and lots of space! Don’t miss this spot!
