Product Description
The Great Falls of the Androscoggin River is one of the most known landmarks of Lewiston and Auburn. Of the many waterfalls along the river, Great Falls is the most iconic. Great Falls was the driving force that powered the mills in Lewiston and Auburn and therefore the development of the neighboring cities. The textile industry boomed in the area during the 1800s. In earlier times, they were used as a trading and fishing spot by native American tribes.
The waterfall does not always have a strong flow. In the summer, the waterfall sometimes is quiet and just looks like a rock formation. In the spring, when the snow melts and rainfalls, Great Falls erupts with a strong flow that completely covers the rocks. Don’t miss out on seeing the roaring Great Falls of the Androscoggin River!
