Product Description
In the center of midcoast Maine, the Penobscot Narrows Bridge and Observatory can be found. The bridge spans the Penobscot River, connecting the towns of Prospect and Verona, which are slightly south and downstream of Bucksport. The Penobscot River Bridge spans 2,120 feet from east to west and rises 135 feet above the river. The bridge’s construction began in 2004 and ended in 2006. The bridge’s design and construction cost $85 million.
The observatory, of course, is the structure’s finest achievement. It offers an experience that gives visitors an unparalleled 360-degree panoramic view of the river, the harbor, and the surrounding Maine countryside from 420 feet in the air at the top of the western pylon. It is the world’s tallest public bridge observatory.
