Cookies and tracking
What Whereabouts stores on your device, and what it does not.

What we store
- A sign-in cookie, once you sign in, so the site knows it is you on the next page. Without it you could not stay signed in, so it needs no consent.
- Your browser’s own storage, for trips you have not saved to an account, the trip you had open, and small conveniences such as which trip you were looking at. This never leaves your device and we cannot read it.
What we do not do
No advertising cookies. No analytics. No tracking pixels. Nothing that follows you to other sites, and nothing sold or shared with data brokers.
If that changes
Anything beyond what is needed to run the site — analytics, an affiliate tracking script, advertising — requires your consent before it loads, not after. If we add one, you will be asked first, you will be able to say no, and this page will say exactly what it does before it appears.
Controlling it
You can clear or block storage for this site in your browser settings. Blocking it signs you out and hides trips saved only in this browser; nothing saved to an account is lost.
