What Whereabouts is

Whereabouts helps you plan a holiday. It shows you routes, dates, prices other people have recently paid, places to stay and things to do, and it hands you over to airlines, hotels and travel sellers to book with them.

We are not a travel agent and we sell no travel. We do not book flights, rooms or anything else on your behalf, we take no money for them, and we hold no money for your trip. Every booking is a contract between you and whoever you book with, under their terms. Your protection for that booking — ATOL, a package holiday, a card chargeback — comes from them, not from us.

What you are paying for

Planning tiers are bought for one trip at a time. Quick Look is free. A paid tier unlocks planning features on the trip you bought it for, straight away, and stays with that trip. Prices are shown before you pay and are charged by Stripe.

You are paying for the planning tools, not for a result. We cannot promise a trip is available, that a price will hold, or that anything we show can still be booked when you get there.

How we make money

Two ways, and both are worth knowing about. You pay us for a planning tier. Separately, some of the links we show you to airlines, hotels and comparison sites are affiliate links: if you book after following one, the seller pays us a small commission. It costs you nothing extra — the price you pay is the same either way.

It never changes what we show you. Options are ranked on price, route and what you asked for, never on what pays us. Links that earn us a commission are labelled where they appear, and we show you the sellers who pay us nothing alongside them.

Prices and information from other people

Flight and accommodation prices come from other companies. They are the prices those companies reported at the time shown on the page, they change constantly, and they are not offers from us. We show you when each one was retrieved and where it came from. Where we have no price we say so rather than estimating one.

Budget figures, daily allowances and travel styles are planning aids worked out from the budget you entered. They are not quotes and not predictions.

Your account and your trips

You are responsible for your account and for what is done with it. Keep your sign-in email secure. Tell us at support@whereaboutss.com if you think somebody else has used your account.

Do not use the site to break the law, to attack it or anybody else, to scrape it automatically, or to resell what it produces as your own service.

We may suspend or close an account that does those things. If we close your account we will tell you why and let you export your trips first, unless the law stops us.

When things go wrong

We try to keep the site working and accurate, but we do not promise it will always be available or always right. Providers fail, prices move, and searches sometimes return nothing.

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not let us limit. Subject to that, we are not liable for the trip you book with somebody else, and our total liability to you is limited to what you have paid us for the trip in question.

You are a consumer, and your legal rights are not affected by anything here.

Changes

We may change these terms. If a change matters to you, we will tell you before it applies to anything you have already bought. Changes never apply backwards to a trip you have already paid for.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and you can bring a claim in the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you can also bring a claim where you live.
